Leading interactive AI and Online Safety workshops for youth, focusing on digital literacy and responsible technology use

Toronto, ON

Overview

I spearheaded the development and supported the delivery of an engaging educational workshop focused on Basics of Artificial Intelligence and Online Safety for youth. Working with VentureKids Canada, I successfully reached around 30 middle and high school students, equipping them with essential knowledge about AI and online safety practices.

The comprehensive workshop curriculum included:

  1. Fundamentals of AI:

    • Interactive session using Code.org to demonstrate AI concepts.
    • Engaging discussions on AI's societal impact, exploring both its transformative benefits and potential challenges
    • Hands-on activities to build understanding of AI's role in modern technology - through a story Wall-E, a friendly robot, trained to cleanup the ocean.
  2. Digital Safety & Awareness:

    • Interactive game challenging students to distinguish between AI-generated and real images, highlighting the importance of critical thinking in the digital age.
    • Practical exercises on identifying and protecting sensitive personal information in social media.
